Standing right in the centre of Pasai Donibane (San Juan), Ontziola is a traditional shipyard that keeps the Basque shipbuilding craft alive. Amid the smell of oak, hemp and tar, visitors will be able to watch the shipbuilding carpenters faithfully following the techniques passed down through generations as they work on the replica of an ancient vessel.


Ontziola opens its doors to the Bay of Pasaia, soaking itself in the local seafaring history, taking us back to times of galleons, whale fishing and far off sea routes.
